Location
Jedburgh is justifiably known as the 'Jewel of the Borders' and has a variety of shops, restaurants, a swimming pool, fitness centre, Community & Arts Centre, primary and secondary schools. The town of Jedburgh lies ten miles north of the border with England. The Red Stone Abbey on the banks of the Jed Water was founded in 1138 and the Visitor Centre portrays the Abbey's turbulent past. The town also has connections with Mary Queen of Scots who visited in 1566. Jedburgh is an attractive setting with riverside walks and colourful renovated buildings in the Market Place and Canongate.
Also close by are the stunning Border towns of Melrose and Kelso. Well situated with road links to both major airports at Edinburgh and Newcastle, the main east coast railway line is 35 miles away in Berwick Upon Tweed.
